Founded in 1995, RYA Sailability has recently been incorporated into the Royal Yachting Association absorbing core administrative costs. Currently there are more than 20,000 disabled sailors in the UK helped by around 12,000 volunteers at over 150 recognised RYA Sailability sites. Through the charities work, sailors with disabilities experience the same exhilaration, enjoyment and confidence felt by able-bodied sailors - along with all the great social activities and competition opportunities.
2007 celebrated Geoff Holt's record breaking achievement - the first disabled sailor to circumnavigate the UK, an inaugural London regatta and the first RYA Sailability multi class regatta at Rutland Water.
